Robert was one of the original founders and directors of Portfolio Property Investors (PPI), which purchased the historic 11-story Leamington structure that once graced Oakland’s skyline as a high-class hotel. The group transformed it into prime office space, which they managed, and then sold in 2015.  The Leamington opened its doors in 1926. Opulent social gatherings for wealthy Oakland residents were among the frequent events conducted at the Leamington. While planning her final journey, Amelia Earhart had an office in the Leamington.
